My name is Dan Perri and I am a filmmaker, born and bred. There is little in life that rivals my passion for film. Perhaps it's the prowess of Hollywood, the exchange of compelling stories, or the notion of creating art from celluloid... All I am certain of is my unyielding need to make movies and be part of this amazing industry.

That is why, after four decades in the film industry as a title designer and second unit director, during which I worked on over 300 pictures with great directors like Martin Scorsese, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Oliver Stone, Terrence Malick, William Friedkin, Robert Altman, Taylor Hackford, Bob Fosse, Hal Ashby, Mark Rydell and many others, I have decided to direct my own story, a story based on my grandfather, a tailor in old New York City, who became involved with the Italian mob, making suits for the neighborhood Mafia don.

Now, fable or not, I think this story is worth sharing with the world, as it brings back to cinema the lost culture and film stylings of the grand old Hollywood of the 1940's, made infamous by people like Frank Sinatra, Greta Garbo, Dean Martin, James Cagney, Clark Gable and the many other greats of the time.

This will be the feature version of my award winning short, "Sharkskin," starring some of the same commonly recognized actors that graced my short film as well as the more readily known television shows like "The Sopranos" and movies like "Shawshank Redemption," "Mean Streets," "Godfather Part II," "Usual Suspects," "Bullitt," and more.

I have always had great passion for this story, for what it means to me, to my family, and to those that lived this story over half a century ago. This is not only a film I want to make, this is a film I have to make. But to do it, I will need your help making this film one the best indie movies of next year!

In addition to my career as a professional filmmaker, I have been privileged to teach at the vastly reputable Art Center College of Design, teaching new and experienced filmmakers the craft that I have come to know so well.
